Due to the level of interest we received from graduate students, Penn Badminton Club is initiating a “Pay-n-Play” scheme during B-Team practices for non-undergraduate Penn students/faculty/staff only.

For $5 each practice, you’ll get:

1. Full usage of badminton courts and equipment on loan
2. Opportunity to play with B-Team players or challenge A-Team members present
3. Option to receive training from our coaches
4. Get to know more people who love badminton!

There is no sign up required. Just come during the B-Team practice times with:
1. PennCard
2. Signed waiver (download here)
3. $5 cash (to be given to any board member present)

The B-Team Practice Schedule for Spring 2010 is as follows:
Tuesdays: 4:00-5:30pm
Thursdays: 6:00-7:30pm

Note: If you tried out for the Competitive team, please check your inbox to see if you made it for callbacks. If you did not make it, you are eligible and encouraged to join our Recreational Team!

Recreational Team Practice Schedule:
Tuesdays: 4:00-5:30pm
Thursdays: 4:00-5:30pm
Fridays: 4:00-5:00pm
Location: Hutchinson Gym (beside the Palestra)

Organized recreational play with other players

No commitments – you can come and go as you like at practice

Membership Dues:
$50/semester (minimum we’re allowed to charge)

Hello everyone,

Thanks for your interest in joining the Penn Badminton Club! We are an SCC-recognized, student-run sports club here on campus with a Competitive Team (“A-Team”) and a Recreational Team (“B-Team”).

We will be having tryouts for the Competitive Team on Tuesday, September 14. No tryouts are necessary to play recreationally if you are an undergraduate student, but graduate students will be placed on a wait list for the Recreational Team. Should you fail to make the Competitive Team, you will be automatically considered for the Recreational Team.

Please see below for information about our two upcoming events.

1. Open play session for all interested in joining the club

Date: Friday, September 10
Time: 4-8pm
Location: Hutchinson Gym Basketball Court #1. Enter through Hutch main doors, go up stairs, go in the first door on your right.
Details: This is an open play session for both recreational and competitive players alike. Please bring your own racket if you have one as we have a limited number to lend out.

2. Competitive Team Tryouts

Date: Tuesday, September 14
Time: Graduate students: 4-6pm; Undergraduate Men: 6-8pm; Undergraduate Women: 8-10pm
Location: Hutchinson Gym Basketball Court #1
Details: These tryouts are for those who are interested in playing competitively in tournaments and against other colleges. No experience is necessary to tryout but we highly recommend that beginners join the recreational team first, Please do not be late for your scheduled tryout time. Graduate students should arrive no later than 4pm, undergraduate men no later than 6pm, and undergraduate women no later than 8pm. We have a limited number of rackets to lend out so please bring your own racket if you have one. Remember to sign in at the scoring desk upon arrival.

Come visit us tomorrow between 10:00am-12:30pm on Locust Walk during the Student Activities Fair! We will have a table where you can sign up for tryouts and ask our executive board any questions that you may have. Don’t worry, if you miss this event you can still send us an email to be placed on the tryout mailing list.

We have not finalized the date and time of the tryouts, but they will be held the week of September 13.
